Who owns the photos?
- Reptiles.ge contributors' photos: Reptiles.ge license. All rights reserved; use only with written permission (see the usage rules).
- Other authors' photos with an open license: their license applies; it is shown at the source link under the photo.
- Other authors' photos used with permission: no open license, so reuse needs the author's consent. Write to us and we will forward the request.
Can I use a photo?
If the photo's own license allows your use, you don't need permission. Otherwise, write to us. Photos under the Reptiles.ge license always need permission.
Photos whose author is not yet identified can't be reused for now. Is your photo here without your name?
How do I ask for permission?
hello@reptiles.geEmail us and include:
- a link to the photo
- the purpose
- the medium: print or online
- whether the use is commercial
We will forward your request to the photo's author.
Example
How do I read a photo credit?

- 1
Author
The person who took the photo. If they are a Reptiles.ge contributor, their name links to their page and the photo is licensed by Reptiles.ge.
- 2
Source
Where the photo was first published, here iNaturalist. The link opens the original.
- 3
License
This author is not a Reptiles.ge contributor, so the photo keeps the license they chose, stated on the source page: CC BY-NC 4.0.
For photographers
Your photo without your name, or want it removed?
Write to us. We will add your name or remove the photo.
Have photos taken in Georgia?
Share them with the atlas, and your name will stay with every one.
More questions
- A photo has a Creative Commons license on iNaturalist. Does that license apply here?
- Photos taken from Reptiles.ge are used under Reptiles.ge terms. If the same photo is published elsewhere under a Creative Commons license, for example on iNaturalist or Wikimedia Commons, that copy is governed by the license shown at that source; check the source page.
- Is it enough to credit the author?
- It depends on the license. For CC BY photos, crediting the author as the license requires is enough. Other licenses may add conditions, for example non-commercial use only. Photos under the Reptiles.ge license, and photos used with permission, always need permission.
- Can I quote the text?
- Yes, briefly. A short quotation that cites the source and Reptiles.ge is allowed; any other reuse of the text needs permission. See the terms of use.
