Who we are
Reptiles — atlas of animals of Georgia
Reptiles.ge is an atlas of animals of Georgia. Herpetofauna is the deep layer, following Tarkhnishvili et al. 2026. Birds, mammals, and spiders are thinner hubs in the same catalog. The site is published in four languages; Georgian is the canonical text.
We do not invent administrative regions, measurements, IUCN category, or national Red List status. Candidate taxa stay candidates. Bite and venom pages are educational: call 112; they are not medical protocol.
The atlas is an editorial compilation. Photos always carry a credit; Georgia-field verification is marked only with evidence. Corrections go through the contact page.

How we work
Standards & sources
Profiles compile taxonomy and what published sources already support for Georgia. Missing size, range, or status stays hidden rather than filled with plausible prose.
What we will not infer
Administrative regions, measurements, IUCN, and the national Red List appear only when a cited source already used on the site names them. Checklist candidates are not treated as confirmed.
Herpetofauna checklist
Amphibians and reptiles follow Tarkhnishvili et al. 2026 (DOI 10.3897/caucasiana.5.e189214). Snake distribution may also cite Iankoshvili & Tarkhnishvili 2021 when that paper is already used on a profile.
Photography
Images are credited. CDN photos are often generic; we do not call them Georgia-field-verified without evidence.
